SportsArt Fitness Joins Forces with Center for Ecosystem Survival (CES) to Promote Conservation and Sustainable Business Practices

Woodinville, WA (PRWeb) March 19, 2007 -- SportsArt Fitness, an international leader in the residential and commercial fitness industries, is pleased to announce their partnership with the Center for Ecosystem Survival (CES), http://www.savenature.org. This joint venture, aimed at promoting sustainable business practices and building awareness of responsible land stewardship, will be on display throughout the 26th annual International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) tradeshow this March 29th - 31st in San Francisco.

Beginning with Day One of the IHRSA exhibition, SportsArt Fitness will host the Xtreme EcoChallenge, an open contest where participants will compete to help raise funds for CES and its mission to inspire broad based participation in the preservation of biological diversity through ecosystem protection. The contest, emceed by fitness celebrity Heather Hawk, will test participants on the number of calories they can burn in a five-minute treadmill session on a new SportsArt Fitness Xtreme Series treadmill. Weight, height and age parameters will be set to ensure a level playing field and SportsArt Fitness will donate ten cents to the Center for Ecosystem Survival for every calorie participants collectively burn.

Over the three day show, the person who burns the most calories in the five minute test period will generate a one dollar per calorie donation to CES and will be awarded the grand prize, a free trip to an exclusive Costa Rican eco-adventure destination. The event will culminate with an in-booth celebration and check presentation ceremony with SportsArt Fitness and CES staff, commercial partners, media and industry friends.

"We are excited to join forces with SportsArt Fitness as I have always held firm that the health of the planet depends on the health of the individual," said Norman Gershenz, Executive Director of CES. "It's gratifying to see a company within the fitness industry contribute not only to our collective personal health but also to the health of our fragile ecosystems world wide."

In addition to the EcoChallenge, SportsArt Fitness will be presenting a "green" theme throughout the tradeshow booth to showcase their new energy efficient ECO-Powr™ treadmill drive system that uses up to 32% less electricity than many competing systems, along with many other self-generating eco-friendly commercial cardio products.

"Thankfully, incorporating social and environmental consciousness into daily business practices is a goal that more and more companies are striving towards and we're certainly trying to do our part," said Scott Logan, Marketing Director for SportsArt Fitness. "That said, being able to go one step further and develop a product line that will not only have significant positive effects on the environment by consuming less energy but will contribute to our business partner's long term sustainability is truly a breakthrough of which we are extremely proud and excited."
