The UK government has mandated that patients start treatment within 18 weeks of referral from a General Practitioner (GP). The patient tracking solution being deployed at UCLH will enable then to identify individual patients who are in danger of breaching the 18 week target thus providing the Trust with the means to proactively direct its resources to ensure its clinical services are delivered on time. All healthcare trusts within the UK must adhere to these challenging requirements by December 2008.
