New York, NY (PRWEB) October 22, 2007 -- The 4th Annual International Film Festival Summit (IFFS) (www.filmfestivalsummit.com) will take place Dec. 2-4, 2007, in Las Vegas, at the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort.
The rapid proliferation of film festivals certainly provides ample opportunity to capitalize on unique and targeted marketing and sales schemes. Two separate presentations will highlight this important subject matter at the IFFS on Monday, Dec. 3. Michael Patrick, the Vice President of ClicknPrint Ticketing, is giving a talk called If You Build It, They Won't Come (Unless You Give Them a Reason); and Debbie Bates, the President of Bates Creative Group, is presenting a session entitled Branding 101.
Many events are under the impression that a website and a virtual shopping cart is all that is needed to sell tickets in advance. Patrick's session will discuss how successful online ticket sales require work and a focused marketing strategy. He will take the audience into the mind of the potential ticket buyer to analyze factors and reasons that people buy film festival tickets in advance, and what keeps the buyer from completing the transaction. Patrick will talk about what a film festival can do to ensure that ticket sales happen now by encouraging the impulse; and he'll explore the idea of whether or not advance purchases are more valuable than walk-up sales.
"Because we ticket so many different types of events, we can share Best Practices to help our clients better compete for that limited disposable income," Patrick said.
"Most people will think that a sales guy is going to get up there and talk about his product and no one wants to get stuck in an hour long sales pitch. But actually my presentation is about what happens AFTER the sale, after you have already chosen your ticketing provider or decided to do it in-house. We spend more of our time helping clients sell advance tickets than trying to get them to use our services. Discounts, promotions, emails blasts, external marketing, web optimization - the things we do for free for our clients so they can sell more tickets."
Bates' talk will emphasize the importance of a marketing strategy that stirs up excitement and curiosity by giving a film festival a creative face through branding. Successful festival branding needs to bridge the gap between creativity and strategy. An identity that pushes the envelope in creativity must be created, but it must also maintain strategy so that people see more than just an image. It has to move people to take action, to remember the event, to talk about it and to attend it. The session will highlight innovative examples of identities created for film festivals and other events. Delegates will also learn about beneficial long- term impacts of effective event branding, as well as important elements to consider when creating an event theme.
