UK's Fastest Growing Video Podcast webTV Site Wins Contract for Dyslexia Film, to Help Highlight Dyslexia Week 2007

Chesham (PRWEB) October 31, 2007 -- pod3.tv, the UK's fastest growing video-podcast webTV company, is proud to announce that they have produced, filmed and edited a DVD and video podcast which highlights people's experiences of being Dyslexic. Produced in association with the Adult Dyslexia Centre (Thames Valley) based in Maidenhead Berkshire England, and funded by the Arts Council of England, the film comprises a series of sketches written and performed by members of the Centre.

"We're delighted to be involved with the Adult Dyslexia Centre" says Neil Fairbrother, founder of pod3.tv "We were approached by them last year to produce this piece and were involved in an advisory capacity on the script. It's great to see the final piece come together; the imagination of the cast is unbounded and we hope we've managed to capture their emotions and experiences in a meaningful and realistic way."

"One of the cast members approached pod3 when she read about them in our local newspaper," says Debbie Farnfield, manager of the Adult Dyslexia Centre. "It was a great experience being involved with pod3.tv and Neil in particular. His patience, professionalism and ability to find the best in the subjects he was filming were impressive. The project had a positive impact on all the cast and some of them intend to study for a qualification in Acting and Speaking next year. "

The film was previewed by an excited cast and is being viewed by an invited audience at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Studio Theatre on 9 November, during Dyslexia Awareness Week 5-11 November. The video podcast version can be downloaded from the Arts channel on pod3.tv.

About the Adult Dyslexia Centre Thames Valley

The Centre is a charity, set up 4 years ago to bridge the gap for adults with dyslexia. Whereas there has been some improvement in the awareness of dyslexia in education, there is very little in the way of support for adults with dyslexia outside of this. We aim to enable these individuals to fulfil their potential in employment, education and social settings, trying to make all our services affordable and maintaining links with a number of agencies such as Jobcentre Plus. Many adults do not know that they are dyslexic and have had a lifetime of feeling different: on the outside, looking in. Our Centre aims to provide the support, advice and guidance required so these adults understand that their difference can be an asset in many ways. About Dyslexia

Dyslexia is defined as a 'neurological difference', specifically a difference in the brain area that deals with language. It usually effects the processing of language and indeed, the processing of information generally. Dyslexia occurs in people from all backgrounds and abilities and often involves strengths in visual, three-dimensional thinking. There are many who consider it essential to have a dyslexic on the team because of their ability to think 'outside the box'. However, with our society's emphasis on written language, the dyslexic is usually at a disadvantage in education and work settings.

About Podcasting

All the major broadcasters are moving into this space as a cost-effective and convenient way of distributing their content - BBC Radio 4 uses audio podcasts to distribute their radio shows.
