Every company should think carefully when choosing an internet marketing agency. Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) March 11, 2008 -- The Small Business Trends Radio Show proudly announces the appearance of John L. Herman Jr., Founder of Hermanisms.com. Herman was the featured guest on the half hour program, broadcast on BlogTalkRadio.com. Herman has something to share with you - his secrets on how to acquire a floundering business at a bargain - and turn it into a profitable one.
It's plausible that many of us, at some point in time or another, have considered or dreamt of the opportunity to be our own boss. And when thinking along those lines, you may ask yourself, "What kind of business could I start and in what industry?" Better yet, you may have asked yourself, "What kind of business could I buy?"
But it's all so risky - especially when considering buying an existing business. Not to mention that it's a bit scary, too. What industry do you focus on and where can you find a bargain? After all, it would be nice to pay a fraction of the cost of a start-up and get a leg up on the business right from the start.
Well, Herman says it's possible. Very possible, in fact, and he's done it many times himself. And what's the number one tactic that Herman finds most successful in acquiring a business at a bargain? Surpisingly - it's just asking.
Statistics show that more than 60% of operating businesses are financially drowning and many owners are already looking for a way out. Simply asking them if they'd ever consider parting with the business may lead to a successful experience for both you - and the owner that's being relieved of a heavy burden. And if you have cash in hand, even better because now you have the bankers on your side as well. They love cash - and they'll even assist in applying some pressure to the seller to get their hands on it. You can even check with bankers in their work out department. A department that deals with troubled loans. It's also a great place to buy companies where the loans are underwater.
And once you've located your potential business, take a look at an appraisal. Ask the appraiser the liquidation value of the business and assets in the event the business should fail. And when you're ready to make an offer, the secret is in knowing the absolute highest price that the assets would bring if the owner were to shut the doors tommorrow and liquidate or auction them off. The next step would then be for you to make an offer only slightly higher than that. If you follow that rule of thumb, your sure to win yourself a bargain.
Herman has seen it all having completed some 300 plus business transactions and entering more than 40 bankruptcy courts over the years. Herman is the Founder of Hermanisms.com (http://www.hermanisms.com) and writes a blog titled The Herman School of Business (http://www.hermanisms.com/blog/). He has also taken his years of experience and used them to write two books, "The Innkeeper Tales" and "Hermanisms - Axioms for Business and Life." Herman's books have received rave reviews from various sources throughout America.
