BKFK and DoSomething.org Launch 'Advertise Your Cause Media Challenge' with $10,000 Grand Prize

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- By Kids For Kids (BKFK) and DoSomething.org announced the "Advertise Your Cause Media Challenge." The "Challenge" dares young people to discover what causes matter most to them and then "Do Something!" to propel their cause into the public eye. The competition will reward the cleverest, most powerful and most impactful new PSA campaign idea with media exposure and a $10,000 grand prize. Learn more at: www.bkfk.com

Several teens in the USA have already found success creating PSA's. Amanda Cornish, 17, created a MySpace page with PSAs promoting safe driving by sending messages and bulletins to teens. Dallas Jessup, 16, wrote and starred in "Just Yell Fire," a 46 minute informational film that teaches girls age-appropriate techniques to get out of abduction or date rape situations. And students from the Boston Latin High School's Environmental Club created seven PSA's encouraging students to reduce, reuse and recycle.

BKFK is committed to inspiring all youth to tap their creative potential in solving real world problems and finding new opportunities. The Advertise Your Cause Media Challenge allows them to explore their creative side and use the latest technology to upload their user-generated advertising ideas. Kids see hundreds of advertising messages every day. This competition turns the tables from consumer to creator of media. Young people can express their views on a cause that is important to them and BKFK and Do Something will help them get their voices heard.

The Advertise Your Cause Media Challenge allows teens to create awareness campaigns for any social issues or causes they care about. Entry formats may include but are not limited to: video, storyboards, print, online banner campaigns, viral marketing concepts and more.

All youth in the United States of America ages 19 and under are eligible to compete in this Challenge. The contest period runs from April 1st, 2008 until 12:00PM EST on June 30, 2008. All entries must be received online at: www.bkfk.com. BKFK.com's "Idea Locker? provides powerful online tools for idea generation and brainstorming, to support the creative process of this competition.

In addition to the $10,000 Grand Prize, the winner will be hosted at the Do Something offices in Manhattan, and have their video or other idea adapted into a PSA to play on their website.

"Young people today are savvier than ever and see that the power of marketing can be used to promote causes that they are passionate about. They're already on social networking sites touting their causes, blogging about solutions, and doing countless other things that just weren't available 10 years ago," commented Aria Finger, Chief Marketing Officer at Do Something. "We are thrilled to join forces with BKFK to provide young people with another voice and platform to express their concerns.

"This is a great competition that merges altruism with PR, creativity and communications ability," added Norman Goldstein, CEO and Founder of BKFK. "It will be very exciting to discover what causes matter most to America's teens-and hear their own ideas on raising public awareness for these issues."

In addition to the "Advertise Your Cause Media Challenge," BKFK is also launching three other national competitions on April 1st, 2008. The BKFK-CosmoGirl! Mind Your Own Business Challenge will reward the best Girl-created new business ideas, The Design Squad Trash To Treasure Competition challenges teens to create cool new stuff from discarded items, and the A2Z Animal Challenge seeks ideas from young people on ways to save endangered species or keep animals safe during natural disasters. All four BKFK competitions launching April 1st will be hosted online at www.bkfk.com and each offers a $10,000 Grand prize and "connections to reality."
