About Video Game Systems And Their Accessories

For many moons, people have had to make their own fun via simple means such as playing with cards, skittles, paint and by playing games such as charades. As the electronic era drew closer, and technology progressed, these games started to disappear from our homes and streets and a new kind of fun was born. A kind of entertainment where you could do things you had never done before. Become characters you had never even imagined, and more importantly, do from the comfort of your own home, with very little effort. This new kind of entertainment was called the home game console system.

The first gaming console to hit the market took years to develop. Although the type and quality of the games were very basic compared to todays standards, they were still worlds apart from what people had experienced before. Apart from them having a handful of games built into them, you got two simple controllers and maybe a cartridge. The cartridge is what stared the games and therefore needs to be plugged into the console in order for it to be operated. The controllers were very simple and lacked most of the functionality that todays hand controllers feature.

In recent years, technology has become so advanced, that a large range of accessories has been introduced to the video gaming industry and leading consoles. Products such as wireless controllers, guns, and vibrating driving wheels are standard in todays world of gaming. People can even link up to other gamers over the internet via portals such as Xbox Live and join in multiplayer games. This also allows gamers to be able to chat together over a headset, as well as send each other messages, and game invitations. This kind of global interaction would have been hard to imagine in the 1970s / 1980s.

Towards the end of 2006, a new breed of gaming console was born. This didnt stand upto the big players such as the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, but grabs a huge share of the market due to its innovation, and the way it has steered away from traditional gaming. This console was called the Nintendo Wii. The way that this new console differs from the others, is the fact that each controller tracks movement which then relays back to the console. This has given Nintendo its marketshare back and has once again ensured that they are serious contenders within the game industry. The console initiates a physical type of game play and is excellent for small groups of people to enjoy at the same time. Unlike the Xbox and Playstation, it generally known as light hearted fun in a box.

With it being so unique within the gaming industry, it has spurred many manufacturers to develop and bring to market, a huge and varied range of aftermarket wii accessories for use with the Nintendo Wiis games. These wii accessories include sports kits, fishing rods, boxing gloves, and swords. Some manufacturers have made these items using a soft, flexible material which helps with the safety aspect of them. These accessories bring you closer to the game and increase user experience. Gaming consoles have come a long way since the early days, and a steady growth in popularity. But the question we ask though is, where will they be ten years from now?
