Singapore (PRWEB) May 30, 2008 -- More than 18,000 copies of morning 'Show Daily' newspapers were circulated, by Fairfax Business Media, at the four-day World Congress of Information Technology (WCIT 2008) held in Kuala Lumpur on May 18-22.
The 'Show Dailies' were circulated to 3,300 delegates, from more than 90 countries, and were available to the more than 40,000 exhibition participants.
George Newstrom, the outgoing chairman of WITSA (World Information Technology and Services Alliance) which organized the event, described WCIT 2008 as the 'largest and best-ever' world congress on IT, which garnered more than US$10 million of sponsorship in cash and in kind.
WCIT 2008 CEO Dan Khoo succeeded Mr Newstrom, as chairman of WITSA, at a handover ceremony on the last day of the conference.
"The Show Dailies were an important source of record and information on the proceedings at WCIT 2008 and the latest developments of the global ICT industry," said Mr Khoo. "Many of our delegates and other participants relied on the Show Dailies to catch up on any presentations and discussions that they may have missed and also as a permanent record of what they had seen, heard and felt during the course of the event.
"I would like to congratulate Fairfax Business Media for a fantastic job in producing the much-sought after and highly interesting issues of the Show Dailies."
Dubbed 'the Olympics of ICT', WCIT 2008 gathered global leaders from business, government and academia to impact economic and social development through the exchange of ideas and policies on technology.
Pinnacle and global impact sponsors of the WCIT 2008 included Malaysia's Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Microsoft, AIDDAS (Advance Information Delivery and Access Solutions), ACGT (Asiatic Centre for Genome Technology), Intel and MexicoIT.
More than US$1.65 billion in trade and investment deals were sealed on the sidelines of the WCIT 2008 and other related events during the week.
The WCIT 2008 Show Daily was produced each morning under the Computerworld Malaysia masthead by Asia's leading Enterprise IT publisher Fairfax Business Media (FBM) who is also the official IT media partner for the WCIT 2008.
FBM publishes Computerworld Malaysia, Computerworld Singapore, CIO Asia and MIS Asia magazines, and provided comprehensive coverage of WCIT 2008 through a team 10 editorial, production and operations staff.
A total of 18,200 copies of the WCIT 2008 Show Daily were circulated through 4 editions to 14 official hotels by 6.00am on each day of the event and to a further 30 distribution points across the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The Show Dailies broke and announced key stories - including video interview coverage - from WCIT 2008, including:

FBM Asia Regional Manager, Andrew Smart, said that it was a privilege for Fairfax Business Media to have participated in this landmark event, which rotates global centres every two years and occurred this year, for the first time, in S.E. Asia.
"The success of our comprehensive coverage of the WCIT 2008 would not have been possible without the commitment and support of WCIT 2008 and the hard-work and determination of FBM's team of editors, journalists and designers, who developed the Show Dailies, concurrent with the production of our normal schedule of magazines, events and e-newsletters," Mr Smart said.
"Our WCIT coverage is also available to Fairfax and IDG's global network of titles and websites, helping to bring the event to a potential global audience of more than 350 million households and offices worldwide."
