Viral Videos: Lethally Effective Advertising Carriers
Are you one of those millions out there hooked on the viral video craze? This article describes the opportunities that viral videos offer to internet marketers.
Higgins Lake, MI (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 – Newly retired from public employment, in the fledgling stages of establishing a new business (Adams Business Communications, www.writemind.net), and saddled with a rising mortgage payment on her California home, Nancy Adams had to decide—and quickly—whether to sink or swim. She made her choice, and she hasn’t looked back.
In January 2005, when Adams retired from her local government job with health care benefits and a small pension, she was fed up with the bureaucracy and determined to turn her part-time avocation as a freelance copywriter into a full-time business. But shortly after she retired, the monthly payments on her unconventional mortgage began to rise along with interest rates, putting a strain on an already tight budget.
Adams and her partner, Suzanne Meyer, took stock of the situation and made a decision to take control of their future. As they considered their options, moving to northern Michigan emerged again and again as the most practical and appealing solution. Adams is a Michigan native, and she and Meyer had grown weary of the congested environment in California. They were strongly attracted by northern Michigan’s low population density and natural beauty, as well as the recreational opportunities afforded by its abundant waterways and four distinct seasons. With tremendous resolve and a sense of high adventure, they put a “For Sale” sign on their California home, ready to reap the equity windfall of the wild real estate market.
“When we looked at all of our possibilities, this decision was a no-brainer,” says Adams. “We used the proceeds from the sale of our home to get rid of debt, put a down payment on our new home, and establish a rainy-day fund. The lower cost of living in Michigan increased the value of my pension, and we found a wonderful home in an idyllic setting at Higgins Lake—at a fraction of the cost of anything in California. And, because Adams Business Communications is Internet based, I knew I could work anywhere—but what could be more inspiring to a writer than a cozy retreat nestled in the beautiful north woods?”
Adams is quick to point out, though, that the move hasn’t been entirely free of challenges. “We faced some initial problems with the sale of our California home, but those glitches just reinforced our belief in our decision to sell. And while our new location brings us the solitude we treasure, it also means we have to work harder to meet new friends.”
Nonetheless, Adams says, she and Meyer have had no time adjusting to the slower pace, and they are thrilled with their new location. “As we approached retirement, like our baby-boom peers, we were concerned about issues like health care, affordable housing, and generating income to supplement pensions and personal savings. By making this move, we’ve covered all of those bases, and we’ve found our little piece of paradise, to boot.”
According to Adams, several friends and family members were skeptical of the move, aghast that she and Meyer would leave the sunny west coast for Michigan’s long winters. “But because Adams Business Communications is home based, I don’t have to get up early on winter mornings to shovel snow so I can join the rush hour on an icy freeway. And in the warmer weather, I can take a midday break to enjoy a walk in the woods or a picnic at the lake. Northern Michigan offers a wealth of advantages for work-at-home folks like us.”
